A Letter from Crinda Francke: What This Award Means to Me

Hello friends,

What an incredible few days it’s been.

On May 4th, I stood in Washington, D.C., surrounded by some of the most inspiring entrepreneurs from across the country, as I was recognized as the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2025 Small Business Person of the Year for Kentucky. I’m still taking it all in, and honestly, I’m a little overwhelmed (in the best way possible).

I started ExecuTrain in Lexington more than 30 years ago. Back then, it was just a dream: to create a company that helped people learn the skills they need to succeed in their careers, and to serve U.S. businesses with top-notch corporate training and technology solutions. It was a big leap. I didn’t have a roadmap – just a passion for education, a desire to build something meaningful, and the determination to make it happen.

Over the years, that leap has turned into a journey I wouldn’t trade for anything. The success of ExecuTrain hasn’t come from luck. It comes from our amazing team, the relationships we’ve built, and a constant drive to adapt and grow. If there’s a “secret” to small business success, I think it’s this: listen closely, learn constantly, and never lose sight of your purpose.

This award is more than just a personal honor. It’s a reflection of the people I’ve had the privilege to work with and serve over the years – from our clients and partners to the incredible staff who show up every day committed to helping others grow. It’s also a reminder that small businesses do make a big impact. We’re the ones training the workforce, hiring locally, supporting families, and strengthening our communities.

Thank you to the SBA for this recognition, and thank you to everyone who’s been part of ExecuTrain’s story. I’m so proud of what we’ve built – and I’m more excited than ever for what’s next.

With gratitude,
Crinda Francke
President & CEO, ExecuTrain
